Clean, Reliable Power for All

Powering the World

We see all people having access to power, thanks to our breakthrough solutions that help the microgrid realize its full potential.

Reliable, affordable power is taken for granted in most of the developed world, but 1.2 billion people around the globe live in areas that don’t have a centralized power source – that’s about 16 percent of the global population.?

Small-scale grids, or microgrids, are quickly emerging as a solution to this challenge of bringing a basic modern necessity to underdeveloped areas of the world. Microgrids are small networks that can independently power a facility or community.

Microgrids typically use renewable resources like solar and wind to generate much of their electricity in a clean and affordable manner, but battery power and diesel generators are used to pick up the slack for wind turbines on a calm day or solar panels when it’s cloudy.?

Emerson technology empowers the microgrid to seamlessly coordinate all of these disparate power sources — a critical need that allows it to replace a centralized power source.
